The Xocas
Mario and Keila met their last year of high school (1989) in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. They married in 1996. In 1998, Mario was hired by LG Electronics as an engineer in computer science in Reynosa (Mexican border city with Texas).
From 2007 to 2016, Mario worked as an IT manager for an automotive company (ZF/TRW), and he was in charge of the 4 factory plants located in Reynosa. They have two kids, Debbie (26/Speech-Language Pathologist, married in May 2023) and Ian (23/graduated college as an IT engineer at UTTN in Reynosa, MX. in August 2022, working as an engineer at Corning Inc. since September 2022).
In 2012 they felt a strong calling to share the Gospel with more people and they planted a Reformed Church called “Camino de Fe.” Since they grew up in the Presbyterian Church, Mario was ordained as a pastor by his state presbytery, and they continue to have a very good relationship with the Mexican presbytery. Keila homeschooled their two children through high school. As a missionary, Keila has been working organizing VBSs, has been a counselor and is tutoring kids. Mario has been participating as a pastor, counselor and as the spiritual oversight for Isaiah 55 Ministries’ teachers and staff and continues to be pastor of Camino de Fe Church.
They are planting a church in the Aquiles Serdán neighborhood which surrounds the mission, and Mario leads Bible studies, community outreach and other activities related to build trusted relationships to allow them to share the gospel.
Mario likes to play volleyball and cheer on the UNAM Pumas soccer team. Keila enjoys Sudoku and solving puzzles.
